BROCKWAY, Placer County — A proposed roundabout and walking improvements at State Routes 28 and 267 near Brockway and Kings Beach remain a future transportation project, according to Placer County’s project status page.
The Kings Beach Western Approach Project aims to improve the connection between the commercial center of Kings Beach and its western gateway. Proposed work includes a modernized intersection, expanded walking space and safer facilities for cyclists, with designs coordinated with Caltrans. The county says the preliminary design and environmental document are complete and the project plans, specifications and estimate have been prepared.
However, the county clearly states that construction will begin when funds are secured. Residents should not confuse design readiness with an active construction contract or assume that traffic circles and new crosswalks have already replaced the existing intersection.
What local residents should know
Drivers and pedestrians should continue to follow the intersection’s posted controls and check Placer County updates for funding and construction decisions. Seasonal winter travel conditions on State Routes 28 and 267 may affect traffic independently of this proposed improvement.
