BROCKWAY, Placer County — The Lower Secline Water Quality Improvement Project near Brockway Vista was completed in 2023 and remains a concrete example of how small neighborhood road changes can protect Lake Tahoe’s clarity.
Placer County says the project improved drainage on Secline Street and Brockway Vista Avenue near Kings Beach, stabilizing road shoulders, paving surfaces and adding curbs, gutters, sidewalks and designated parking. The county estimated the measures could prevent approximately 2,000 pounds of road sediment from entering Lake Tahoe each year. That figure is a project estimate, not a later independently measured water-quality outcome.
The work also incorporated infrastructure near a North Tahoe Public Utility District sewer lift station, and the design allows for a potential future shared-use trail along Brockway Vista Avenue. Accommodation in an engineering design should not be read as an announcement that a new trail is already open.
What local residents should know
Residents concerned about runoff, snowmelt and winter drainage can consult Placer County’s completed project documentation and report new roadway problems to the appropriate public works agency.
