BROCKWAY, Placer County — Brockway-area property owners who have prepared vegetation piles for removal should note that Sunday, November 1, 2026, is the final request date for North Tahoe Fire Protection District’s seasonal chipping program.
The district began accepting requests May 1 and started chipping work in early June. It lists November 1 as the last day to submit a request this season, with crews planning to work through remaining piles during the November 2–5 period. Availability and pickup depend on program rules and district service areas.
Chipping is a way to reduce woody fuel near homes, but it does not replace all defensible-space responsibilities. Residents should follow district requirements for where and how piles are stacked, keep driveway and emergency access clear, and avoid placing piles where they block the road. The fire district also provides separate services for property inspections.
What local residents should know
Because the deadline is today, residents should check the official program page and submit any eligible request immediately. Do not assume that crews will accept new submissions after the season ends or that every private road is eligible.
